How to Know It's Genuine

Reddish-brown bark
The outer edge of each slice should show a distinctly reddish to dark-reddish bark. Not pale yellow — that is the common Yellow variety.
Visible annual growth rings
The cross-section of the root shows ring patterns, like a tree trunk. Dense rings indicate slow wild growth — a sign of potency.
Intense bitterness
Touch your tongue to a slice. It should taste very bitter — significantly more bitter than strong coffee. Bitterness = potency. No bitterness = weak or adulterated root.
Dark amber tea colour
When brewed, the water should turn a rich amber-brown within 15–20 minutes. Pale or colourless brew = low-quality root.
Pale bark or mild taste?
If your "Red" Tongkat Ali has pale yellowish bark and mild bitterness, you likely have Yellow variety being sold under the Red name. Contact us if you have any concerns about your order.
